Honors Physics, explained with pictures first.

Physics is the class where students say "I understand it in class, then I can't do the homework." That gap is almost always about setting problems up. We teach the setup.

What Honors Physics tutoring looks like with us

Honors Physics introduces motion, forces, energy, waves, and electricity with algebra and trigonometry. Many schools now teach physics to ninth graders first (often called Physics First), which means the math is still new too.

Your tutor starts every problem with a picture: a sketch, a motion diagram, or a free body diagram. Then the equation choice gets much easier. We tutor regular and conceptual physics too, and help students who are heading to AP Physics.

From our tutors

Where students lose points in Honors Physics

Choosing the equation

Students hunt through formulas looking for one that fits. We teach them to list what they know and want, then pick deliberately.

Vectors and trig

Components and angles cause many lost points. A little focused trig practice fixes a lot of physics.

Motion graphs

Reading slope and area on position and velocity graphs is tested heavily and rarely practiced enough.

Word problems

Physics problems are reading problems first. We practice turning a paragraph into a diagram.

Our sessions

What a typical session looks like

  1. First 5 min

Check in on class: what was taught this week, what is due, and when the next test is.

  2. Main block

Work through the topic that matters most right now, using your actual homework or class problems.

  3. Practice

Test style questions on the same topic, so the skill holds up under time pressure.

  4. Last 5 min

A short plan for the week, and the topic for this week's worksheet.

  5. After

Our support team sends the worksheet, marks it, and returns a written score report and a retest on the weak spots. Parents get a copy.

Questions

Honors Physics tutoring FAQ

Do you tutor regular and conceptual physics too?
Yes. Tell us the course name on the school schedule, and we match the math level and pace.
My ninth grader is in Physics First. Can you help?
Yes. We support the algebra and trig alongside the physics, which is usually what younger students need most.
Should I take AP Physics 1 after Honors Physics?
Many students do. Your tutor can preview the topics AP Physics 1 adds, like rotation and fluids, so the next year starts strong.
How much does Honors Physics tutoring cost?
It depends on how many sessions per week you choose. It starts with a free 30 minute trial session, and we share pricing with you before you commit to anything. Weekly worksheets, score reports, and retests are included, not extra.
