MATH 210  ·  Honors  ·  Grades 8 to 10

Geometry proofs, finally making sense.

Geometry is the first math class built on proof. Students who were great at following steps in Algebra 1 are suddenly asked to come up with the steps themselves.

What Honors Geometry tutoring looks like with us

Honors Geometry follows the Common Core approach in most states: transformations, congruence, similarity, and proof, plus right triangle trigonometry, circles, and volume. Proofs are usually the biggest hurdle.

Your tutor teaches proof as a skill with a method: mark the diagram, list what you know, work backward from what you need. We tutor regular Geometry too.

Typical syllabus

What a typical Honors Geometry course covers

UnitTopics
01Foundations and ReasoningPoints, lines, angles, conditional statements, deductive reasoning
02TransformationsTranslations, reflections, rotations, dilations, symmetry
03Parallel and Perpendicular LinesAngle pairs, slopes, proofs with parallel lines
04Congruent TrianglesSSS, SAS, ASA, AAS, HL, CPCTC, two column proofs
05Triangle RelationshipsCenters of triangles, inequalities, midsegments
06QuadrilateralsProperties of parallelograms, rectangles, rhombuses, trapezoids
07SimilaritySimilar triangles, proportions, dilations
08Right Triangles and TrigonometryPythagorean theorem, special right triangles, sine, cosine, tangent
09CirclesArcs, chords, tangents, inscribed angles, equations of circles

From our tutors

Where students lose points in Honors Geometry

Starting a proof

Most students know the theorems but not where to begin. A consistent method makes the first line obvious.

Reading diagrams

Assuming things from a picture that are not given costs points. We practice marking only what is known.

Algebra inside geometry

Many geometry problems are really algebra problems in disguise. We keep algebra skills sharp.

Trig ratios

SOH CAH TOA is easy until the triangle is rotated. We practice identifying sides from any angle.

Our sessions

What a typical session looks like

  1. First 5 min

Check in on class: what was taught this week, what is due, and when the next test is.

  2. Main block

Work through the topic that matters most right now, using your actual homework or class problems.

  3. Practice

Test style questions on the same topic, so the skill holds up under time pressure.

  4. Last 5 min

A short plan for the week, and the topic for this week's worksheet.

  5. After

Our support team sends the worksheet, marks it, and returns a written score report and a retest on the weak spots. Parents get a copy.

Questions

Honors Geometry tutoring FAQ

Do you tutor regular Geometry too?
Yes. Same topics, usually fewer formal proofs.
My child is taking Geometry in middle school. Can you help?
Yes. Many advanced eighth graders take Honors Geometry. We adjust explanations to the student.
Do you help with Integrated Math courses?
Yes. Integrated Math I, II, and III cover the same standards in a different order. Tell us your course when you book.
How much does Honors Geometry tutoring cost?
It depends on how many sessions per week you choose. It starts with a free 30 minute trial session, and we share pricing with you before you commit to anything. Weekly worksheets, score reports, and retests are included, not extra.
