AP Physics C: Mechanics, where physics meets calculus.

Physics C is taught like a first semester college engineering course. The physics ideas are familiar. The challenge is using derivatives, integrals, and differential equations to describe them.

What AP Physics C: Mechanics tutoring looks like with us

Many Physics C students are taking calculus at the same time, which means the physics class sometimes needs a calculus tool before the math class has taught it. A tutor fills that gap so you are not stuck waiting.

Your tutor follows your class and focuses on the setups that come up again and again: variable forces, integrating to find work, rotational inertia by integration, and solving simple differential equations for motion with drag or oscillation.

From our tutors

Where students lose points in AP Physics C: Mechanics

Setting up the integral

Students can integrate but freeze when they have to build the integral from a physical situation. We practice the setup, not just the calculation.

Differential equations of motion

Drag and oscillation problems ask you to write and solve a differential equation. It looks scary and is very learnable.

Rotation

Rotational inertia, torque, and rolling without slipping produce the most errors on the exam. We spend real time here.

Derivations

Free response often asks you to derive an expression symbolically. We teach clean algebra and clear steps that graders can follow.

Our sessions

What a typical session looks like

  1. First 5 min

Check in on class: what was taught this week, what is due, and when the next test is.

  2. Main block

Work through the topic that matters most right now, using your actual homework or class problems.

  3. Practice

Exam style questions on the same topic, scored the way AP readers score them.

  4. Last 5 min

A short plan for the week, and the topic for this week's worksheet.

  5. After

Our support team sends the worksheet, marks it, and returns a written score report and a retest on the weak spots. Parents get a copy.

Questions

AP Physics C: Mechanics tutoring FAQ

Do I need calculus before AP Physics C?
You need it by the time the class uses it. Many students take AP Calculus at the same time. Your tutor can teach the calculus you need a few weeks early.
Should I take Mechanics and E&M together?
Many schools teach Mechanics in the fall and E&M in the spring, with both exams in May. E&M is harder and builds on Mechanics, so a strong first semester matters.
Does AP Physics C count for college credit?
Many colleges, including engineering programs, grant credit for qualifying scores. Policies vary, so check each college's AP credit page.
How much does AP Physics C: Mechanics tutoring cost?
It depends on how many sessions per week you choose. It starts with a free 30 minute trial session, and we share pricing with you before you commit to anything. Weekly worksheets, score reports, and retests are included, not extra.
